Stars End Win Streak With 3-2 Loss in OKC

Texas had a chance to tie their franchise record six game win streak tonight in Oklahoma City, but ultimately it was not to be. The Stars fell 3-2 in regulation to the Barons. Texas got goals from Colton Sceviour and William Wrenn and added 22 saves from Jack Campbell, who took only his second regulation loss of February.

The loss also ends the Stars seven game point streak. Texas stays at 74 points with the loss but does not lose any ground in the standings thanks to an idle Charlotte Checkers' squad.

Travis Morin had the best Stars chance of the first period in his first game back from injury. The center rang one off the post midperiod. The Barons got the only goal of the first period as Brett Clark snuck down the wing unmarked on a delayed call and finished off a pass from Philippe Cornet for his first as a Baron.

The low scoring first trend continued in the second as the teams traded goals. Colton Sceviour went first late in the second, tipping a Justin Dowling shot past Yann Danis for the one all tie. Mike Hedden picked up the second assist on Sceviour's 14th goal of the season. Just two minutes later, Tanner House finished off a Toni Rajala pass to make it 2-1. For what it's worth, Rajala has been the Barons' equivalent of Justin Dowling this season. He's evolved into a constant presence on the top six and is a force to be reckoned with.

C.J. Stretch would score his first as a Baron in his first game off a one-timer to make it 3-1 for the Barons late in the third. It would be the ultimate game winner. The Stars would get one more very late to make it interesting. William Wrenn scored his first AHL goal with 33 seconds left in the game. The goal, while not a power play tally, was assisted by the tired Barons' penalty killers and was scored 6-on-5 after an extended 6-on-4 sequence.

The Stars will next be in action on Friday against Chicago.
