Texas Can't Battle Back, Fall to Moose 4-3

The Stars couldn't build on a character win in Toronto tonight in Manitoba, falling 4-3 in Winnipeg. After garnering an early lead thanks to Aaron Gagnon, the Stars gave up three straight goals and would not regain the lead in the game. Tyler Beskorowany was pulled and replaced by Richard Bachman in the second after the third goal. Texas could drop as low as six in the division before they get the chance to take the ice again, with Chicago, San Antonio and Oklahoma City all in action on Saturday.

After Gagnon's tally twenty-three seconds into the game, Texas allowed two special teams goals from the Moose. The first was a power play goal in the slot from Cody Hodgson. Next, Desbiens went "Jamie Benn" on Texas, scoring a shorthanded goal for the 2-1 lead. Texas has now allowed seven shorthanded goals on the season, which is in the middle of the league.

Manitoba's third goal ended Tyler Beskorowany's night, bringing Richard Bachman into the game. Perhaps fueled by the change, Dan Spang got the game to 3-2 with an individual effort. Almost as quickly, Sergei Shirokov scored his 20th goal of the year and setting the score at 4-2.

Travis Morin would get one more back with a power play goal with 4:26 to go in the 3rd period. Aaron Gagnon and Dan Spang each picked up assists for the second point of the night for each.

Texas takes on the Moose again on Sunday in a matinee game in Winnipeg.
