Aeros Clip Stars 3-1

Texas couldn't get an important two points tonight against a divisional foe. Tonight's game in Houston marked the first of 10 straight divisional games for the Stars. They will look to improve tomorrow night against Milwaukee.

Texas and Houston got it started early with some fisticuffs. Ray Sawada and Jarod Palmer dropped the gloves just 3:35 into the first, but it was Texas striking first on the scoreboard. Recent callup Michael Neal scored his first AHL on the power play 9:41 into the game. Assists went to Sceviour and Fortunus.

Houston struck back six minutes later at even-strength when Patrick O'Sullivan behind the net found Casey Wellman to the left of Richard Bachman. The puck found the twine to tie it at one after 20. Shots were near even with a 11-10 advantage for Houston.

The Aeros got the only goal of the second period, putting one past Bachman at the 5:05 mark of the period on the power play. Casey Wellman picked up his 2nd point of the night with the primary assist on the play. The period ended with another slight advantage for Houston on shots at 21-19 in total.

The second period tally for Houston would turn out to be the game winner as Houston continued to press on the forecheck and bring a strong trap game through the third period. An empty netter by captain Jon DiSalvatore closed up everything with 15 seconds to go in the game.
