Scoring From All 4 Lines Gives Texas 4-1 Win

By my estimation, all four lines scored for the Stars tonight and that's good news. Heck, even goaltender Richard Bachman got into the mix with a secondary assist on the 4th tally. In all, ten of the Stars' 18 skaters tallied a point in the game with no skater achieving a multipoint game. Bachman stopped 38 of 39 shots against, losing the shutout bid in the last 10 minutes of game with a power play goal against. Texas faces Abbotsford again tomorrow night. Aaron Gagnon returned from Dallas in time for tonight's game as well and had an assist.

Here's the press release:
The Texas Stars (19-11-2-2, 42 points) defeated the Oklahoma City Barons (16-12-1-4, 37 points) 4-3 in a shootout on Tuesday night in front of 4,470 fans at the Cox Convention Center. Stars left wing Fabian Brunnstrom tied the game 3-3, scoring his sixth of the year with 49 seconds left in regulation. Texas Stars goalie Richard Bachman (12-5-2) took care of the rest, stopping 32 shots in regulation and three of five in the shootout to preserve the road win. Rookie forward Tomas Vincour started the rally with a goal 1:49 into the third period, bringing the Stars within striking distance. Oklahoma City goalie Martin Gerber (11-7-2) stopped 37 Texas shots in regulation, but allowed three goals on four attempts in the shootout loss. Texas right wing Greg Rallo also scored, as the team improved to 8-5-0-1 on the road this year. Despite two goals from center Brad Moran, Oklahoma City’s winless streak slid to five games (0-4-0-1). Texas will continue its five-game road trip in Abbotsford, BC at 9:00 pm (CT) this Thursday.

The Barons jumped out to a 1-0 lead less than a minute into the first period. Center Brad Moran poked in a rebound for his tenth goal of the year, beating Texas goalie Richard Bachman for the game’s opening goal. Colin McDonald and Alexandre Giroux picked up the assists on the goal at 0:43. Texas countered on the team’s only power play of the opening period. Right wing Greg Rallo snapped a wrist shot past Barons goalie Martin Gerber at 12:22, tying the game 1-1. Defenseman Brad Lukowich and right wing Ray Sawada each picked up an assist on Rallo’s 11th of the year.

In the second period, Moran netted his second goal of the night and 11th of the season at 2:36. The Barons center slipped a shot past Bachman on the power play to give Oklahoma City a 2-1 lead. The Barons made it 3-1 at 14:54 when defenseman Taylor Chorney scored his second goal of the year, giving Oklahoma City a two-goal lead after 40 minutes of play.

Rookie winger Tomas Vincour scored just 1:49 into the third period to bring the Stars within a goal. Defenseman Trevor Ludwig set up Vincour’s fourth goal of the year that cut the Barons lead to 3-2. Texas pulled goalie Richard Bachman for the extra skater with just over a minute left in regulation. The Stars capitalized on the move. Francis Wathier found Fabian Brunnstrom just to the right of the Barons net. The Stars winger flipped the puck over the shoulder of Gerber for his sixth goal of the year. Defenseman Dan Spang also had an assist on the game-tying goal at 19:11.

After a scoreless overtime, the Stars scored on three of four attempts in the shootout. Forwards Colton Sceviour, Tomas Vincour and Mathieu Tousignant beat Gerber on their attempts for Texas. Stars goalie Richard Bachman stopped three of five attempts, only getting beat by Teemu Hartikainen and Brad Moran.
