Your 2010-11 Texas Stars got things off on the right foot this afternoon with a 3-0 win in San Antonio.
The game took almost a full 60 minutes to decide though, with 14 power play chances between the two teams resulting in no power play goals, or goals of any kind for 54 minutes. Tentativeness on the power play is often a symptom of the early season, with both teams working to get their systems in place and not wanting to make mistakes that will cost them.
Scott McCulloch broke the scoreless tie with 5:09 remaining in the game with an assist from Ondrej Roman (That's ON-DRAY), which would prove to be the game winner. Travis Morin tallied two more in the game, one an empty netter, to make the final 3-0. Morin finished the night plus-3 with two goals on three shots.
Brent Krahn finished with 27 saves on 27 shots for his first shutout of the year. Matt Climie, the former Star, finished with 38 saves on 40 shots and the loss. Former Stars Mathieu Beaudoin and Garrett Stafford, who both started the game, were both minus-2 with a minor penalty.
Texas now has a long layoff before their home opener on Saturday.

Brad Lukowich came out of the tunnel as the captain of this Texas Stars squad. Texas dressed 11 forwards and 7 defensemen. Each returning player for the Stars wore the same number as last year except for Matt Stephenson who moved from #20 to #25, which was formerly taken by Warren Peters who is now with the Aeros.
