Goalie Alex Auld assigned to Texas Stars

I'm posting this release from the Dallas Stars in a perfunctory manner. Alex Auld did clear waivers today at 11 AM and has been assigned to the Texas Stars. However, assignment and reporting are two different things. I don't think we'll see Auld between the pipes for Texas this year.

Additionally, now Auldie can be had for half his remaining salary, which is only about $250,000. Dallas would pay $125k and the club acquiring him would pay $125k. With Alex's record, I don't think it's a stretch to see him somewhere else in the NHL soon. Here's the release:
The Dallas Stars announced today that goaltender Alex Auld has cleared NHL waivers and has been assigned to the Texas Stars, Dallas’ primary minor league affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL).

Auld, 29, has played in 21 games for Dallas this season, posting a 9-6-3 record with a 3.00 GAA and a .894 save percentage. The 6-4, 214-pound goaltender has appeared in 204 career NHL games, going 83-81-28 with six shutouts. He went 6-1-0 in his last seven home starts and won back-to-back starts four times this season. Auld was acquired via trade with Ottawa July 8, 2009 for a sixth round pick in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.
